COAMS Celebrates the International Approval of Occupational Therapy Program
Under the patronage of Professor Youssef Al- Eissa , The Vice President of King Abdulaziz University of Health Sciences (KSAU-HS), the College of Applied Medical Sciences (COAMS) and the Saudi Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) celebrated the international approval of Occupational Therapy Program of COAMS as well as the full membership of SOTA by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT). The Occupational Therapy Program at KSAU-HS is currently the only program in the Kingdom and in the Gulf region that is approved by WFOT , and SOTA is the only Occupational Therapy Association in the Gulf Region that grants the full membership status of the WFOT.
Dr. Mohammad Al Mutairi, Dean of the COAMS, Dr. Fayez Al Shehri, President of the SOTA, Mr. Ghalib Al Ghamdi, OT Program Director and Dr. Hashem Abu Tariah, Associate Professor of the OT Program all spoke about the importance of this international recognition, further; steps needed to maintain this international recognition which are SOTA activities and initiatives and the COAMS other programs progress and achievements.
The celebration was attended by Dr. Abdullah Al Mutrafy, Deputy Executive Director of King Abdullah Specialized Children's Hospital, COAMS former Dean as well as COAMS Associate Deans and Program Chairmen and Directors, Faculty and Administrative Staff and COAMS students.
Professor Youssef Al Eissa, the Vice President of KSAU-HS made a speech and thanked everyone for the great achievement and encouraged all programs to follow the lead of the Occupational Therapy Program. He also honored the director and all the faculty, joint faculty and staff of the program and the SOTA President with appreciation certificates.
The celebration was held in the Large Auditorium of the COAMS on 14th April, 2016.
